Quicktime preferences code hide menu bar

I'd like to disable the 'stop recording' button on the menu bar during screen capture on 10.6.
I know that Quicktime X doesn't have the option of changes preferences and I've seen some codes out there that will alter certain preferences. Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this or where I might find the code?
