Just tried to install Snow Leopard OSX onto my Mac Book Pro. The screen has frozen with the grey screen and Apple logo. I have tried ejecting the disc using the Firmware (Command / Alt / O / F ) with no effect.

Any ideas?

How far did it get into the process? Did it ever come up with the installer screen?

If not, you can just press and hold the power button until it turns off. Then, turn it back on again and hold the mouse button while doing so. That should forcibly eject the disc.

That's worked - fabulous - thanks very much - you've saved me a few frustrating hours!

I'd double-check that disc as well. Sounds like it's either damaged or inappropriate for that machine.
