front row and movies

hi. i just bought the new imac g5(new to mac as well) and have a question about the frontrow feature. it will play the music fine but won't play my videos. it displays a white screen. so i tried opening them in quicktime and it says they need additional software. all i know is that the file is a scr.avi and that when i go to quicktimes "additional software" page, i dont know what to download. please help

you need to download a codec, go to http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/ and donload the codec then follow the instructions to install it, there are other codecs, thats just what i use.

This codec doesn't include the MP3 part. so i can watch but not hear my movies. and it says this codec does not work with quicktime 7 or 10.4. are there any other codecs that will work?

Every movie I've tried to play on it works so hopefully it fixes your problem.

using vlc wont allow cjk805 to play those with frontrow. im sure she already has that or mplayer osx, so all of her movies will play. just not using frontrow. and thats what she wants.
