Am I able to replace my IMac's internal sound card with a new one?

I read on the internet that Macs are unable to support other manufacturer's hardware for internal use, and that in doing so will void warranty. If this is so, then I am guessing that I will need to buy an external sound card/module.

Simple answer NO! The sound is part of the Logic board. You can not change it. There are no PCI-E Slots in an iMac either.

Only way is an external USB sound card. The sound on the iMacs is first rate.
