Virus threat

Hi

Anyone saw this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...ricks-Apple-Mac-users-to-steal-passwords.html if so is anti virus still unnecessary?

Yep, this is a new variant of old malware, but no antivirus can protect you against social engineering tricks.

Again a few simple things to help you:
1) keep your system up to date in terms of patches
2) if you did not specifically went looking for it, dont install it.

Matter for you that antivirus. If you feel you must, download ClamXAV which is freeware. Also make sure in Safari Preferences General, the Open Safe files is not selected.

Not exactly my definition of a "threat". Well, at least not a threat to me - I practice common sense and safe browsing. No A/V has ever touched this Mac.
