I have a 2008 Macbook 13", a mini DisplayPort, and a digital audio cable. I cannot get the sound to work on my TV when I hook up my Macbook. I can get a picture and everything else is working perfectly, except no sound. I thought I could fix this problem by buying the digital audio cable but the problem still persists. HELP!

I have an 32LK330 LG tv.

Thank you!

You need an audio cable with a stereo mini plug on the end that plugs into the audio output on the MacBook and the other end left and right audio to plug into the TV. In other words, mini stereo to RCA left right audio.

I have the audio cable already and I tried using that as well but it did not work. I am unsure as to why I can get my HDMI cable to work but there is no sound.

Because your machine does not output sound through the video port. Only newer Macs have that ability. Using the cable that I suggested should work provided you set the TV up correctly for sound. Take a look at the LG manual and find out how to have sound input. You can't do it with HDMI.
