I have a MacBook Pro and am pretty new to this world and loving it...having just come across from the darkside....I have semalessly connected into every wireless envrionment I have had to work in until today in a hosted serviced office environment...the machine detects the wireless network; it connects and attmepts to link to the "https://securelogin.xxx.xxx" location where username and password has to be entered but it freezes on that site before loading and locks safari and the mail client..it recognises the wireless network but wont connect any further...all the lights on the diagnostic are green but everything is still locked and no internet...when I move to another location and a dififerent wireless network it all connects and the browsers and email all work...but when I then go to check the http://securelogin.xxx site it locks the browser and mail client again...has anyone got an idea of what may be happening and how I fix it?..

It sounds like some requirement of the network isn't being met.

have you spoken to the admin?

Does it, perhaps, need a specific browser, port, etc?

Thanks...Not sure..I did speak with the admin who advised me it must be a mac issue and that the problem is not with his network coz everyone else (including mac users) can log in...he advised I should reinstall safari and then he left...I am suspicious that I can get home and get onto my network easily here and the same https login site that locked everything up in the office does it again here..makes me think (logically, not technically) that the issue might be between my setup/browser and the site somehow and perhaps there is a setting on my machine that needs reviewing (someone did suggest that perhaps there is a problem with the secure site and my machine's IP address somehow?)

Try Firefox or Chrome and see if you have the same results.

Also, make sure you select automatic in the Network Location settings in System preferences. This will ensure you don't have any specific IP reserved etc.
