Macbook wont boot

Cant boot Macbook pro
Get blue screen and then flashing folder with question mark in it.
Have tried putting install dvd in and rebooting from dvd option but it just go to reistalling operating system. Cant see hard drive on disc repair option just the dvd drive.
help me please

Parents have an imac. So I connect them both with firewire then reboot macbook holding down t key - not sure what then?

See if the HDD is available for repair via the iMac. Sounds like the drive or mobo has failed.

No luck - connected Macbook to imac with fire wire and nothing. imac doesn't pick up any hard drive.:\

Sounds like your hard drive is dead then. I'd pick up a new 2.5in HDD, and reinstall. The only other thing you could do is to pull the drive and check it in an external enclosure, just to make sure it isn't something wrong with the computer.

Think i'll let someone who knows what they are doing fix it. Thats not me
