upgrading a1181 logic board

I've been thinking about installing a logic board with a faster processor in my white 1.83 macbook. Would this a) work - and if so which logic boards would be compatible?, and b) provide a speed increase worth the $ (provided I find a logic board on ebay or in a for-parts macbook?

This macbook works great still and I'd like to prolong it's life as long as possible.

Not worth it. A newer/faster logic board (if compatible)...would probably cost at least 50-75% of the current value of your current laptop...thus not a good financial investment. Better off selling the current laptop + some cash...and getting something newer.
