Dual monitors?

Your Mac's Specs
MBA 1.7 GHz Core i5, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - Lion 10.7.4; Thunderbolt Display; 2011 iMac base w/SSD
Can I use two flat screen external monitors side by side and run different programs but drag windows across into the adjoining monitor? I have been doing this in Windows but now wonder if I will need to acquire one super large monitor instead of using two.

This can certainly be done...I do it all the time!:)

In fact just for "laughs & giggles"...I've "spanned" Excel worksheets across 4 external monitors at the same time.;)
