Back light of MBP (1.83 GHz Duo Core) stopped working a while back. replaced the lcd screen, no fix.

Ive heard that it could have to do with the inverter cable? There is a display when using an external monitor, as well as if there is a light source on the screen.

The display brightness (F2 and F1) don't do anything, the bars just move with no difference.

No other major problems with the MBP though. The laptop is used for school work and recording studio work and is becoming more of a pain to need an external monitor or tv with the proper dvi/hdmi/vga cables...
CAN ANYONE HELP ME??

let me know if there are any others questions about the laptop as well,
thanks

There could be other reasons the backlight is not working. A bad inverter or loose\defective cable are suspect especially if you have already replaced the LCD and an external monitor is OK. Go to the ifixit web site for part descriptions and instructions.

It's probably the inverter module (although it could be a bad cable).

The inverter steps up voltage to the CCFL tube that backlights your display. When it fails, you'll have a very faint display that you can see in certain light, but it won't have any backlight, nor will the brightness controls work.

It's not uncommon for the inverter to fail. If it's just the inverter wires that have failed as the result of friction, it should be fairly obvious on a visual inspection, although it wouldn't hurt to do a continuity test on each of the leads.
