Hello all,

Is it possible to partition the hard drive on my Windows PC for Time Machine use on my MacBook Air via USB? And, if so, HOW? :)

Thanks,
Allen

Are you planning to continue using the drive with your PC? If so that won't work. Time Machine is expecting the drive to be Mac HFS+ not Windows NTFS.

There are procedures out there for splitting a drive into partitions with one having HFS+ and one NTFS for Windows but I have typically seen it only for external drives. Can you tell us more about your setup? Is this an internal drive on your PC? Network share?

It is my internal hard drive on my Windows PC. I do have wireless throughout the house, but have never set up my PC for Network share.

I was just looking for an inexpensive way to be able to use Time Machine on my MBA. I didn't want to have to buy an external drive if I didn't need to.
