Apple TV does not show movies using the whole screen

Hi
I have an apple TV connected to a 40" TV. It is a great thing, but many of my movies do not show using the whole screen even though there is space for it.
I have used Aimersoft Total Media Converter to convert my DVDs to files. I have used the the Apple TV setting in Aimersoft.
What can I do the extend the picture to the full screen?

Do those movies show up full screen when played from a DVD?

Chances are that the DVD wasn't mastered in the same ratio as your TV.

Unfortunately, we don't discuss DVD ripping on this forum, so this is the only insight I can give you.
