Mac Air won't add my hp photosmart 4680 printer

I'm new to apple macs. I tried to install an my HP printer software (mac compatible) . Said it was successfully installed but when I go to print something it says there is no printer that I need to add one. It's very frustrating. Any thoughts? I would really appreciate it.

Sounds to me like you installed the printer software but didn't go into system preferences and add the printer. To do this click on 'System Preferences' on dock, the 'Print & Scan', then click on the plus sign to add your printer.
