Is it just me or has the enter key 'stopped' opening files? I've been using my Mac for 5 years.... but I am now finding that when I'm in the finder and I select a file then hit the enter key it highlights it to change the name rather than opens it. I swear it used to open it.

I use the enter key because I try to avoid doing too much mouse clicking because of rep use issues.

I would say this is new as of the last month or so. Anyone have any ideas?

My internet search just produced responses like "go back to your pc" ...but I haven't used a pc for years on any regular basis.....so my Mac habits are pretty established.

Nope - hasn't been like that since at least Leopard. To open a file, push Command-Enter.

Oops, that was my mistake!

Command-Down is what you're looking for. I don't know what I was thinking above, haha.

That worked. It's different...but it worked.

...still perplexed by the enter key. You know, you've always done something a certain way (it's a habit) and then you do it one day and it doesn't work and people tell you it can't be done that way, never could...but you swear you've been doing it....weird...Twilight Zone stuff.....

anyway......thanks.
