how to see mouse animations in VNC client?

I have a need to see the waiting/busy ball/wheel thingo while using screen sharing (on a Win7 PC client).

I've tried a few VNC clients to no avail. Is this a server side or client side issue?

Anyone know of a combination that works?

I've tried turning off local rendering and any other mouse/cuser related options I can find in the clients I tested.

Fist week on a Mac - please be gentle...
