OpenOffice - I need help

well, i dl'ed open office. i think i installed x11, but i am not sure. how can i tell? next is if i did install it i used the start open office app and got a list of stuff for to open it with. i picked xcode for some reason and it doesnt open. now i cant change the program to open it with. can anyone help me?

You think you installed X11 ?? Check in your Utilities folder, if you have installed X11 there will be an icon named X11 there. If it isn't there, then you probably didn't install it and Open Office or Gimp will not work without it.

Seeing as you are operating on a laptop, i would suggest you try the NeoOffice version where you don't have to have X11. Will save some hard drive space for you.
