Hello people of Mac Forums,

I am starting to learn Pascal programming and I have been having troubles installing the Free Pascal Compiler along with the Lazarus IDE. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but the outcome is that whenever I try to open the Lazarus application, it bounces on my dock a few times then just stops and does not open anything. I do have developer tools installed properly. I have installed like this

  1. FPC.dmg
  2. FPCSRC.dmg
  3. LAZARUS.dmg

I got all the downloads from:
Lazarus - Browse /Lazarus Mac OS X i386/Lazarus 0.9.30.2 at SourceForge.net

If anyone can help me, PLEASE DO, I have gotten very frustrated with the complexity of the installation.

If this is useful, here is some information about my computer:

MacBook
Mac OS X
Version 10.6.8
Prossecor: 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

It's hard to diagnose the problem with no information about what's causing the issue. You could try running it from the command line (Terminal) to see if it spits back any info:
Code:
open -a <name of application>
I don't know what Lazarus is installed as (my guess is Lazarus, haha) so replace <name of application> with the name of the Lazarus app bundle.

When that tries to open and fails, something should be printed to the Terminal window. Let us know what it says.
