Maybe you can help me... If I am working on my 2008 MacBook and close it suddenly it starts to click. The inside screen will stay on. But is frozen. Will only turn off if I press the power button. Would keep clicking for hours if I let it. Is it the hard drive? Yesterday this happened and when I restarted it I got the grey screen with a envelope and question mark. Wouldn't start for me. The apple store couldn't duplicate the problem. Says its fine. It had been ticking off and on for 2 years.
Thanks!!

THe hard drive is next to the optical drive, if that's where the clicking is coming from then it could be the hard drive.

Make sure you have a time machine back-up running as soon as poss
