Volume Button Locks Screen

Trying to fix my younger brother's iPod touch...

Whenever he presses the up volume button, the screen locks. All other buttons are functioning fine. It has not been in water (I've read that this can be the cause on a few other forums).

I haven't taken it to the Apple Store yet....wondering if anyone here has any suggestions.

Sorry...just realized that the power/lock button is acting as the volume button. It increases the volume, then locks the screen. I'ver tried restoring the ipod, but no luck.

Only thing I can think of that would cause that other a hardware issue is a Jailbreak mod, but since you said you restored it thats out.

I think your stuck with going to the Apple Store, wish I had that luxury

If you jailbreak it then you can use activator to disable that function on the button.
