Mid 2009 13.3" MacBook Pro 2.26Ghz, 8GB RAM, 640GB 5400rpm HDD, Lion, Windows XP, Windows 7
Hello Everyone,

My Mid 2009 13.3" MacBook Pro 2.26Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo recently gave me the "Service Battery" warning. I am not surprised considering that it has 695 charge cycles on it and was getting 2 hours of battery instead of 8. So I was thinking I would just replace it myself since my MacBook Pro is no longer covered under warranty. My question is do I buy a battery for a Mid 2009 13.3" or can I buy a 2011 13.3" one? Would buying a 2011 battery give me better battery life vs buying a 2009? If memory serves, when I bought my MacBook Pro it had a 8 hour battery with a 300 cycle rating on it. The new ones have a 7 hour 1000 cycle rating on a i7. Since I don't have a i7 processor would I get more than 7 hours?

Thanks,
Alex

You should be able to, iFixit lists one battery for all 13" unibody MacBook Pros
MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Battery (661-5557) - iFixit

It should have some improvement, how much I'm not sure.
