New to MAC and need some help. When I attempt to attach a PDF file to an email message, it opens and displays the file - in my situation a one page document.lease help. thank you. I do not want the pdf to open, but rather attach as a file to be opened by the email recipient.

What mail client and version of OS X are you using? Does this happen with only this particular PDF?

All software is latest version. Yes it seems to happen only with this portable pdf. Could it be that I use Dropbox? Thank you.

Latest versions of what software? There are multiple email clients available to you. No, Dropbox isn't responsible unless it's involved in this problem (ie. the file comes from Dropbox).

Attach the file to your email, then Right/Ctrl click and select Display as Icon.

What MightyGem said. You know, however that this makes NO difference at all to the recipient -- their email client will show that there's a file attachment that can be download regardless of whether the document displays in-line or not.
