Problem with TextEdit

Currently Im trying to open up a document created on a PC in Word and it only opens in TextEdit. The problem is I cant see any of the graphs that are within it? Is there a way to open it in Word on my mac and not in TextEdit? Or a way to show graphs in TextEdit?

If you have Word installed, doc/docx files should be associated with it. If not, right click a Word document > Get Info > Open With > change it to Word > Change All...
