This is the kind of stuff that's nice to read. Fierce competitors in the marketplace, but a rather deep friendship in real life. Bill Gates wrote a letter to Jobs prior to his death that Steve kept at his bedside.

Laurene Jobs told Gates about it following Steve's death. In Bill's words, it wasn't any kind of 'peace-making' letter,

"There was no peace to make. We were not at war. We made great products, and competition was always a positive thing. There was no [cause for] forgiveness."

I always thought they must've outgrown all that; even if the hardcore fanbois & fangurls still haven't yet...

Good to see Jobs was at peace with someone who - for better or worse - undeniably played a huge roll in his life.
