Your Mac's Specs
iMac|MacBook
My old macbook is just about dead (logicboard problems, screen going black) after about 6 years. It was a great laptop so ive been thinking about getting a new MB Pro. Im taking computer science next year, that will involve some programming with visual studio, access etc. The computers at school we will be working on are mostly PC. Will i have compatibility issues while transferring docs back and forth between PC and Mac computers? Can a MB Pro handle this task as well as a PC?

Visual Studio and Access are Windows only. There are no Mac versions which means you would have to install Windows on your Mac. You can do that by using virtual software (Parallels, Fusion, VirtualBox) or dual boot. (Boot Camp)

If the work you'll be doing is primarily with Windows software, you might want to buy a Win machine for school instead of a MacBook Pro. However, a well equipped MBP can handle Windows applications just fine.
