Hello everyone!

I have bought my first macbook pro, and so far I'm really enjoying it. The OS X is far superior to any linux or windows that I have used.

The only thing bothering me is Finder. The way it displays file names are somewhat annoying, for example, say the name of the file is "uninstall adobe photoshop CS5". It will display "uninstall ado...p cs5". I don't know what that is, but if it were like windows or linux, it would display "uninstall adobe phot..." which is a lot easier to understand.

Is there some way to make finder display files like that?

Thanks in advance!

Make the window (or column) wider so the name is unabridged.

(in other words, I don't think there's an easy way to change the Mac's abridging behaviour, sorry.)

Yep. Depending on you you have things sorted, either widen the column or window.
