- Your Mac's Specs
- Macbook Pro 13" - 2.66GHz/1TBHD/8GBRAM; iPhone 4GS
Hello:
I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2010) that I bought really cheap ($400).
First of all, here are the specs:
Macbook Pro 13"
2.66 GHz
320 HD
8GB RAM
The problem I am having is overheating and the fan always on. iStat shows RPMs up to 6,200 and CPU temp up to 120-140 F. The other temps are up as well. The RPMS sometimes go down to a more normal 2,000, but the longer it is on, the more heated it gets, even if no load is placed on it at all.
Today I opened it up, removed the fan, blew it out, hoping that would take care of it. Well, it helped for a while. Then, the temps crept back up. On my other Mac (same year, almost identical specs), I removed the fan from that one, which has no problems, and switched. This did not remedy the problem either. The temps still crept back up and eventually the fan started to run and run. So, it seems as though the fan isn't the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? The price on the laptop was good and so I bought it. My wife and I already have Macs, so my intention is to sell it. I didn't know it had issues until I brought it home.
Thanks!
Dave
