Somebody recommended that you must install another browser on your Lion OS for supplement of Safari, because Safari had some innate defects.

If it did~

Guys, what is your supplement browser ?

Which one is better...

I downloaded FF when I first bought my Mac due to it being my browser if choice on Windows, but I thought I'd give Safari a whirl before I used FF....

4 months later and I haven't used FF once.

Chrome, FF and Opera are the main options...download each one and see which one you like best. It's a personal choice to be honest, and I've never come across any of said defects. It used to have a memory leak problem, but in my case thats fixed now.

IMHO Safari rocks.

I was a long time Firefox user and switched to Chrome after it's release and use that as my browser on every OS that I use..

I tried to use Safari as it came with the machine but just could not come to like it, grey and depressing:)
I tried both Firefox and Chrome. I used to like Firefox but am less keen on its latest format.
Chrome on the other hand I personally find simple, elegant and fast and works great on the MBP.
If you try FF or Chrome recommend you use the Ad Block Plus add on.
Doubt you will find much consensus on the best browser though:Evil:

Agreed. Each of the major browsers is free so download them yourself and decide for yourself.

Each browser has "defects" and positives. This is true of any class of apps and browsers are no different. Thus, find the one that best suits you and use that.

I am sure that the stimulating posts and discussions in the Forum keep you thinking positive thoughts - even if you have to look at them using Safari:D
My super colourful themes on Chrome and Safari help to keep my sunny disposition - even when my computer skills fail to match yours with a similar demo of different skins;D
I may be wrong - and frequently am! - but having messed around with Safari I failed to find any alternative to the grey and depressing skin...:Grimmace: But then again maybe it is not possible to be depressed when using a Mac...

I'm running SL and mainly use Safari. I have FF specifically for my University of Phoenix online classes and to access CAC card required DoD sites since Safari doesn't work well for this.

For me Safari was first choice on Snow Leopard. Then they brought out the 5.0 update and utterly massacred it - so i went to Opera.

Now on the new MBP I'm running 10.7, so I'm back on a working Safari again, and so far its still my favourite browser.

that said, Opera is now my favourite browser on everything else, which is weird. I use it on Windows and my iPhone aswell, and i always use Opera for any video streaming online (because the adblock is far better).

I usually have Firefox lying around somewhere, for troubleshooting mainly - but i barely use it.

Chas, you now running Chrome? :D

Safari will always be my favorite browser, but there is still some memory use issues with some Flash content. I do like Chrome and use it and Opera on some sites if there are issues and also to keep up with the latest in Browser Technology to help people here on the forums. I have Firefox installed for that reason also, as I love to compare browsers as they keep improving them. Vansmith and I are very much alike in that way and test out the latest versions.

That said, I will say this again, I like the way Safari works though the best and have since I first used it on 10.2.8! :D

Hi KenGalaxy,

Not sure what your friend is talking about. I use Safari (after having tried others), and haven't had any problems with it. Am curious to know what "defects" your friend is referring to.

Memory leaks and terrible ones. There are conflicting reports about whether or not Safari 5.1.2 fixes this but in my experience, it couldn't manage memory if its life depended on it.

Actually I cheated. That's SRWare Iron (a privacy-respecting version of Chromium).

I'm intrigued as to what's in the "I'd hit that" bookmarks folder... ;)

Not what you're probably thinking!! :)

That's my catch-all bookmark folder for sites I visit regularly that don't fall into other neat categories. Presently it includes my bank site, How Stuff Works, Statistical Abstract of the United States and suchlike.

Razoredge: LOL! No such luck brother. My pron folder is labelled "accounting" ... wait where's the edit button?! :Lips-Are-Sealed:

Well that's hugely disappointing.

I won't be asking you to divulge in this case... ;)
