Difficulty Erasing a 32 GB Flash Drive

I'm having trouble with a 32 GB flash drive (no-name brand from Hong Kong.)

I have tried copying files to it, but get some really strange error messages, like "Resource" file is busy and _DS.Source is locked and cannot be copied!
So I decided to re-format it.
(It came formatted as MS-DOS FAT.)

I cannot seem to make it format as a MAC OS Extended Journaled, or anything else at all.
It gives me a "Volume Erase failed, Volume Erase failed with the error:, Couldn't unmount disk."

I am at my wits end and ready to send it back...

PS I have two other flash drives (1 GB each), they copy the same files no problem. So, I am thinking this is tied in with being a DOS format, but how to Undo it?

PS another flash drive copies the SAME files NO PROBLEM! I think it is a DOS thingy!

It's not a DOS thing. You probably have a defective 32 GB flash drive. Send it back and get another.

All Flash Drives are formatted FAT which on OSX is called MS DOS. Agree with Chscag, send it back!
