Trouble capturing screen to a Projector

Not sure if this is the correct forum page, so excuse me if it's not. I had a client who was doing a presentation. We used mac adaptor and the background of the desktop came up on the projector, but none of the icons on the desktop showed. We checked settings, display, but it didn't seem to have any settings to adjust, other than resolution.

Very strange. Our companies Macs seem to always work, but for some reason this guys wasn't. Any ideas?

We got it figured out...After hooking up projector to Mac, go to preferences, then arrangement. Then click on mirror image box in lower left corner.
