La Cie HD Hard Drive formatting for Mac

I bought a La Cie HD hard drive and had to format using disk utility in order to make it writable on my Mac. Disk utility only gave me the option to format the partition as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but the user manual says I need to format the drive as Mac OS Extended - not journaled :Grimmace:

I'm running Lion OS X 10.7.2 on a MacBook Air.

Please Help!!

Way... way too many specs to list.
I'm unclear as to why journaling would cause a problem. Have you tried formatting it as a journaled file system?

OH! You're plugging this into a TV!

Try this.

Disk Utility->select a volume you want that has journaling enabled, OPTION-click on File menubar option and select Disable Journaling.
