Imac as external monitor

Hello,

I want to use my MacBook Pro (Mid 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz) which has DVI output port...with my Imac which has a mini dvi port. I want to use the imac as the an external monitor. Ive done quite a bit of research and Im still not sure what I need to purchase. Any information is much appreciated

2 Ghz intel core 2 duo

It won't work. Only the 27" iMac has an input and output video port. There is software that purports to work: "Screen Recycler" but it's hit and miss.

You're right there. I used it for a time to use an old iBook as a second monitor. It was stable and did what it was supposed to do. I found though that screen redraw was quite slow. Some of that may have been due to the speed of my wireless network.

I used it mainly to put tool palates from programs like Photoshop on the second screen. It was OK for tasks like that if the screen did not have to redraw often.
