Hi every1,

i have 2 macs and 1 pc sharing a broadband connection over a router. One of the macs is ancient and has its own printer. There is a newer printer connected to the PC and i want to create a network to share this printer between those 2 machines. The Mac is an iMac G3 running Mac OS 10.2.8.

I have no idea how to work this network so any help would be apprieciated. At this point i just want to share the printer. The router says that it can be done but i have no idea.

Thanks Alot

Make sure the printer is shared on the Mac.

Connect to the shared printer on the PC using add printer>network printer

http://themacsip:631/printers/printername

Use a generic post script driver, this may take some trial and error to find one that will work well.

Sounds driver related,...use a generic post script or manufacturer post script driver,...

Using a "Windows" driver will not work.

Does the job show up in the queue on the Mac?

Well if the job doesn't even get to the Mac then there is path issue. While adding the printer in windows you selected network printer and then connect to a printer on the internet. Type the URL,..

http://yourmacsip:631/printers/thenameoftheprintqueue

eg

http://192.168.1.100:631/printers/Epson_Stylus_740

don't forget the :631

When selecting the driver try the manufacturer on the left then choose a post sccript on the right. Usually identified by a PS in the driver name. This is where it gets touch and go. there will be some trial and error here to get a driver that works good.
