Word 2011 for Mac - Problem with templates and tables of content

Hi guys, don't know if this is the right place to ask this and sorry if it isn't. I'm trying to create a template for a report using Mac Word, and in the template document (the .dot) I've got a table of content linked to headers. When I open from template though and get a Document1.doc, the rest of the style etc stays, but the table of contents disappears. Is there any way to make sure that the table of contents transfers over when opening from template?
