• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi all. I am new to the Lion OS. I use to run tiger and it was so easy to copy a DVD. Now I'm kind of at a loss. Is there a quick and easy way to make a copy of the DVD keeping the menu and such intact?

I did make a copy of the disk to the HD I am wondering if I just put that on a blank if everything will be ok, or if there is something else I need to do. I've heard about software that copies the DVD for you and wonder if it's necessary or worth it. Any freeware our shareware out there?

What kind of DVDs are you trying to copy? The method will differ depending on the type of content.

Given that the disc was loaned to you and is a program, we can't discuss copying it. I'd suggest that your father simply purchase a copy of the software that his friend lent him.
