I acquired an Imac 21.5 C2D 3.06 machine. There is no OS Installed. When I just turn on the system it ends up at a folder with a question mark in it. When I try to install an OS I get nothing, just white screeen. I have a full osx disk 10.5 and I hold C on startup and the screen just stays white. At no point do I ever get a startup chime.

If I hold the option key at startup, the mouse cursor appears and then an icon that shows an "OSX Install DVD". That is the only icon. No other drives. And I cannot select that icon to go any further.

So now I am stuck. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Using a 10.5 Retail Full version DVD. Not using any machine specific install cd's.

You can not install Leopard (10.5.X) on that machine as it originally came pre-installed with Snow Leopard 10.6.3. You either need the original Snow Leopard DVD set or buy a retail copy of Snow Leopard from Apple. However, it may be best to just order the original DVD set from Apple.
