Files appearing under "Devices"

I was attempting to delete a downloaded file from my trash and it kept saying it was in use...... so I ignored it for the time being.

While getting familiar with my Mac I happened to open Finder and noticed that the file I was trying to delete was listed under "Devices". Once I removed it from there I was able to trash it.

Why was the file listed under "Devices"?

I am suspecting that you had a DMG file downloaded from the internet, and that was mounted to your Mac for installing some program. You probably removed it by clicking the little "eject" icon, and then deleted the DMG.
