You know - I was really skeptical about launchpad when I first saw it. I didn't like it - thought it was pointless since I use cmd-space for just about everything - but lately - over the last 2 weeks - I find myself using it every day. Part of the reason is I have my guitar in my hands quite a bit these days - and I've been tinkering with a bunch of different demo programs - and it's easy just to do a quick 4 finger pinch (3 finger, 1 thumb) - and click the icon using the trackpad then it is do take the other hand off the neck of the guitar and type a name that I can't remember - because I've only used it once - 3 days ago.

Anyway - just a vote in favor of the utility of launchpad since I've found it very useful of late. :)

I can see where it has it's uses. Being a keyboard guy, it's of little (no) use but I can imagine that if you depended on a mouse or a trackpad, Launchpad might be nice especially if you arranged everything nicely.

It sure looks like the "everything is an icon" paradigm is coming in fast. Launchpad in OS X and Metro in Windows 8 sure seem to be signs that this is the case.

I'm a keyboard guy for just about everything - but just have found this very useful when I am down to one hand. (I'm talking about playing Guitar people!!) :p I'm not keen on the everything is an icon paradigm necessarily - and like I said - initially - I thought launchpad was cute but useless for me - but evidently it's not.

Maybe I should try out Launchpad with a gestures on my magic mouse. I suppose it couldn't hurt to try it again.
