i am trying to hook up my mac pro to a panasonic tv to use as a monitor. it hooks up and displays a picture, but the top and bottom portions of the screen are cut off. i have fiddled with the display options with no luck. i am mirroring my screen. i am pretty sure i need a 1280x800 display for it to show up correctly on my tv, but there is not 1280x800 option that i can select. every setting seems to overscan on my tv. is there a way i can manually choose the resolution?

it doesn't allow 1280x800 in system preferences?

maybe your mac doesnt have enough power to power the screen.
