please help. ive been reading about braille and voice over and i may have clicked something that has given me a black thick line.. a bit like a ruler.. where the letters of the words im typing are coming up. i can move this bar around the page.

where could i get in to delete this?? i know im fiddling in areas where i shouldnt be for a beginner.. this is what i get for doing it.

ive been into applications and tried to cancel anything to do with braille. at the moment i only have the black''ruler''. also in sparrow email program this morning im noticing that when i type a reply i have a rectangle that develops as i type over the sentence.. and it follows the sentence along to the end. when im about to type a word and ive used the space bar it says ''space'' in the black ruler... then as i type the words, sometimes just letters, show up.:\

all this started when i tried to get my computer to voice some text on the web.. and it just keeps directing me to iTunes where i can access some of the text by listening to voice.(no problems before, just couldnt access speech)

when i first got the computer i was able to highlight text, press control +command.. and r. click to call up the voice activation. now i cant get that...as i said, it directs me to itunes. ive been into applications and looked at'' speech'' and'' speech with itunes'' is ticked. when i remove the tick i dont get access to speech at all.

also.. i desperately need some good manuals. i need some direction with basic functions and the best way for me to learn is to sit down and read.

can anyone help me with this as well?? what books and where can i get them from please?? sorry for writing a book here. lol. this is me. Im in, boots and all. judych.... just in case you need to know.. i have iMAC27"

Did you leave VoiceOver on? I think that could be the cause of the black rectangle.

Good manuals are Mac OS X _____ For Dummies and OS X ______ The Missing Manual (where _____ is your version: Lion, Snow Leopard?). You can find them on Amazon I'm sure.

Well, those books are not likely to have the solution to your immediate problem. I can't replicate it, so I'm afraid I can't help you get rid of it.

It sounds like you installed a braille font or an addon.. That's the only way I can think of to install braille. You may need to uninstall it. If it has an uninstaller than use that.

As for voice over you can remove that in system preferences -> Universal access.
