I'm replacing the power supply on my Power Mac G5. Can I use a 450W power supply rather than the 600W that came out of the machine? The Mac's Model No. is A1047, EMC No. 1969

Other specs:
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,2
Processor Name: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz

Thanks!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

That would be fraught with danger using a lesser wattage power supply. Here is a second hand power Supply, 600w, that is reasonably priced. It is for sale for $75 buy it now, and take it you are in the STates as you provide no information

Yeah, I suspected that. Now to decide if I want to take the risk of blowing $75 plus shipping.
Thank you!

Well a fifteen day warranty period is offered on all goods which is better than nothing. Either a PS will work or not work, no half measures.

600W power supply

I bought a 600W power supply on eBay for $65.98, shipping included. They've allowed 7 days to return it. Wish me luck. Thanks again for your help.
