When I want to open a file from a folder in the dock the folder disappears after I click the file. That is perfectly normal. However, when I want to open multiple files I have to re-open that folder time after time in order to select a file.

Is there a modifier shortcut that will keep the folder visible while I open multiple files?

Right click, select Open "Folder"

or if you prefer

Left click, select Open in Finder

There is no easier solution, for example holding down Command or another key while clicking?

If you open the folder in finder you have other options.
Several finder windows can be open at once via command n
You can also drag the folder to the finder sidebar and drop the files back into that.

I don't see how that is in any way easier. It involves two hands. The other two options I mentioned can be accomplished with one hand.
