I have one of the older Macbook Pro 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo.
The problem is the screen will every now and then "freeze" and the image on screen will fade into a sort of photo negative state then just go black and will sometimes show a faint black line approx 1.5'' thick down the left side of the screen. I can adjust the brightness up and down and notice a difference but the screen is still black/blank. I've tried resetting the P-RAM and if I plug in a VGA/DVI to an external monitor it works fine.
Can Anyone tell me what this is before I take it to get repaired and get hit with a huge bill worth more than the laptop itself?
