OK, it's a bit of a story so I'll shorten it:
- Yesterday, I tried to to 'erase free space' on my hard drive but it took so long that I cancelled it before it finished.
- When I went to verify the disk, it said it needed repairing.
- Having taken it into the Apple Store, the man told me to reinstall Lion via starting up the system and holding 'command' + 'r' which I did.
- Having reinstalled Lion, ALL of my files and settings are exactly as they were before I did anything! He said they should be fine but I didn't expect it to actually work!
Now, my question is this: will this have erased the free space that I intended in the first place? In other words, are the deleted files that would still have been accessible on the system now gone completely and inaccessible?
