My San Disk 8GB pen drive has just switched itself to 'read only' and I can't find a way to do anything about it. Here are some symptoms:
There is no padlock to unlock in info
The drive is recognized in Disk Utility but all buttons except for 'verify disk' are grayed out.
Verifying the disk brings up a message box saying:
"Disk Utility stopped verifying disk because the following error was encountered:
The underlying task reported failure on exit."
Should I just assume this disk has malfunctioned and is not going to work?
