Hello Forum! (I'm new to the forum but have owned at least a dozen macs.)
I have been getting "Hard disk almost full" warnings as of late, but my hard drive is only about half full. When I open Activity Monitor, the disk usage wildly jumps from 221GB free (out of 499GB) to 0 free, or any amount in between. If I close Mail 4.5, it stops jumping and goes back to 221GB free. Under "system memory" the virtual memory size is 175GB, but only half of my installed 12GB is in use. The significant changes I made recently is subscribing to several RSS feeds in Mail. (I'm planning on migrating the RSS to shrook or something else, thinking that maybe Mail just can't handle it.)
I'm guessing that something is wrong, and the system thinks it needs to access all the vm for some reason. Any advice would be appreciated, especially if you've seen this happen before.
Peace, Grojband
