Hey Guys, So I've just switched over from PC to Mac. I have a MacBookPro and was just curious to something.

Up the top right where the clock is there is a purple mark, Is this meant to be there or is the screen damaged? Sorry if this is stupid, Just need someone to confirm. After all it was £1500.

What kind of purple mark are we talking about here? Can you provide us with a screenshot? To do this, push Shift-Command-4 and make a box around the purple mark (picture will be saved to the Desktop).

Here is the screen shot, I now know it is meant to be there if it has came out in the screen shot, But still what is the purpose of this?

Also thank you I was wondering how to take screen shots.

I'm not sure it is meant to be there my friend.. I have never in 4 years seen a purple spot up there on my Mac.

Thanks for the image. I'm thinking one of two things:

1. There's a problem with the display.
2. Apple has a "transparency" setting...where "stuff" underneath can be seen "transparently".

That purple spot may be part of the graphic/image you have set for your desktop "transparently" showing thru the menu bar. To be sure...just change your desktop image/pattern/graphic to something else...and see if it goes away.

HTH, :)

If it's part of the screenshot, it won't be hardware based. This is why I agree with pigoo3 - if you're referring to the purple and blue spot under the clock, it's probably your wallpaper since the menubar is partially transparent.
