Alert Sounds

Can I use the alert sounds from one program in another. IE Adium alert sounds in Growl. Or Ichat sounds from my MBP in my Mini?

Or are they only program specific? If so How?

It depends how each app creates the sounds. I would assume that most include audio files as sounds since you can only make so many sound programmatically. I suppose then that if you did find the files, you could simply point your apps to those files assuming they let you manually choose sound files.
