can you stream ya mac through ya Xbox

27' iMac i5 (2010)  iPad2  iPhone5  iPhone 4S  Apple TV2  iP
i don't really understand networking...

but my son got an Xbox for Christmas and it dawned on me that it hooks up to the router In the same way my mac does

could I connect the two together and stream movies onto my TV using my Xbox

kinda in a way that apple tv works, I think
