Fastest way to transfer 50GB Mac -> Mac

What do you guys think, am I missing anything?


Goal: Fastest transfer of a 50GB file from Intel Mac -> Intel Mac

Methods:

1) Ethernet to Ethernet (Gigabit -> 100BASE-T (2nd machine is a MBAir and the USB ethernet adaptor only support 100, not Gigabit.))

2) USB 2.0 -> USB 2.0

3) Wired Gigabit Ethernet (MBPro) -> Wireless Gigabit N Ethernet (MBAir)

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

Thoughts/comments?

If it's single file I'd go with option 1 - best combo of speed and reliability/robustness

On paper the USB transfer should be faster but I've never found it that reliable for very large transfers.

Well, Ethernet cables have always been much faster for me than USB ones, so I'd say the first choice is the fastest.

USB never comes anywhere NEAR its hyped speed so forget that.

If the MBAir has FW800 then you'd want to use that, WAY faster than USB2 or 100Mbps Ethernet.

If both machines have Thunderbolt then obviously that's the fastest of them all.
